The Park School

GIS Monza is located just 300m from the famous Monza Park.  This not only provides an amazing outdoor Atelier but it gives educators the opportunity to take their curriculum outside. Our Park School philosophy and curriculum is based on the renowned Forest School Approach. Early Years students visit the park once per week to investigate their current unit of inquiry from an outdoor perspective.  This could be looking for seasonal changes, completing tally charts for colors found or considering the connection between people and wildlife.  Our 2-3 year old students use a carriage pushed by the teacher to venture further into the park. Primary students visit the park once per week to inquire into a year long unit.  Each year a different theme drives the inquiry from finding creativity in the park to noticing natural patterns and processes.

The benefits to a Park School approach are endless however include:

  • Increased focus and concentration from being outside
  • Developing a stronger connection with the natural world
  • Widening knowledge of wildlife within the park
  • Taking action based on learning in the park
