Exploring concepts through the Arts subjects allows GIS Monza students to express themselves in varied ways and to consider different perspectives through artistic lenses. The teaching of the Arts is of high importance within a PYP school and each subject is taught by specialists in the different disciplines.

from the age of 4, students engage in an exploration of their unit through drama with a specialized educator. They participate in drama games to develop skills and work on short performances, improvisations and mime in different contexts. All children participate in the GIS Winter Show and the Primary school in the GIS Summer Show. The Summer Show allows for students to take on a variety of roles such as props, sound engineering, stage manager and of course actors.

From the age of 2 students engage in Visual Art proposals focusing on observation and drawing skills. They work with 2D and 3D media and begin to reflect on the artwork of others. As students progress through the Primary school they continue through the IB Scope and Sequence creating their own pieces and responding to different Artwork.

From the age of 2, students have one lesson of music per week focusing on the elements of music and connecting music to the unit the students are inquiring into. They play a range of tuned and untuned instruments from around the world and develop their singing and composition skills over the programme.

All Early Years students participate in a singing assembly with the music specialist learning to sing a range of songs in different languages whilst enjoying singing as part of a group.

All Primary School students participate in the school band. This includes taking on different roles and feeling the joy that comes from the hard work of learning a piece of music as a group. The band also includes a Boom Whacker band.
